So I was at the warehouse the past two nights, both nights resulted in falling on the same knee really hard, but that is beside the point.

I was the only one with an iPod.  I have some suspect stuff on my iPod that I feel the majority wouldn't want to be listening to while skating I warned everyone that I didn't want to get any shit when something a little weird came on. It didn't go all that bad, but I'd like to list just a few things on my iPod that some people might not feel is appropriate for a heavy session:

    Joanna Newsome

Mountain Goat (I know robreed is feeling this one)

    Why?

    Beirut

    Feist

    Kate Nash

    Postal Service

What's on your iPod that you might be a little embarrassed if it came on shuffle during a session with the Homies?

I have plenty of stuff that's inappropriate to skate to, but I wouldn't be embarassed. Make a playlist for skating! But for the sake of this discussion, here's a list of shit on the 'pod that doesn't lend well to skating.

    Brian Eno

Coatesville Debate Team (US Hearts & Beats)

HemiSync (brainwave stimulation for out-of-body experiences)

    Bright Eyes

John Frusciante (hardcore junkie era, though it truly is punk as fuck)

Weezer Green (not so much embarassed as much as I am disappointed how much this one sucked. then again, why is it on my iPod?)

    Wesley Willis

    Radiohead

    Apocolyptica

    Bjork

    Bobby McFerrin

    Game Jew

    Paul Simon

    Moby

    Weather Report

Lismore (one of my favorite bands, though!)

    Nassaw Tate

Metallica - St. Anger (guilty pleasure)

    Spacehog

and a few others who are probably too obscure for anyone else to care

The point is, we're all human beings. We have more than one emotion. Nobody feels bang-bang-thrash all the time.

mountain goats = appropriate for every session

honestly though i'm rarely in the mood for hard as fuck thrash jams when i'm skating. a few weeks ago some dude had the supremes blasting at the warehouse. that's much more my vibe. skating while diana ross is singing is like having a hot babe hanging at the park. you gotta rip to impress.

i'm pretty sure most of the tunes i put on people aren't psyched on, although thelonious monk thursdays at the bowl have become routine.

Suspect? WTF? I am so over listening to the same metal music every where I go. It's sorta funny that if your skating transition you need to listen all loud and angry. Nothing gets me more hyped then fresh music. Posing as a metal head is the new rollerblade.
