  1. Complain about the park costing so much? That’s just life and the cost of building something on a grand scale. Nothing to complain about there. What I was gonna complain about is the fact that I’m going to have to see all sorts of douche bags who probably don’t know a skateboard from a roller skate wearing these shirts. Though if the proceeds from these douches go to fund the park then it’s all good in the end. What’s up with not selling these shirts at local skate shops as well as at Urban? That’s kinda weak.

  2. that is pretty weak. you’ll see more hipster scenester kids rocking this shit more than anyone else…

  3. Nugget, do we really need the preemptive ‘dont bitch about the cost’ statement? Ki, you sound like a hypocrite. Didn’t I just read a myspace post about this same subject, yet you were BACKING the support of non-skaters rocking skate shit?

  4. it seems like… Everywhere I turn, people are doing their best to imitate the feeling of skateboarding, or BEING a skateboarder…But they just don’t get it. Skate or Die dunks? I fucking love it. Jump on the scenester bandwagon with anything and everything….Haha..I even saw a thug on my block wearing a Circa t-shirt…and you know what? I could care less… Supra? I’ve seen more scenester kids who have never even heard of Muska wearing them more than I’ve seen actual skaters…It’s great!!! Keep it right up. Wanna know why? Because fools out there, doing their best to dick-ride something I do all day everyday, are paying the car notes and rent to some of my favorite pros out there busting their ass. So instead of giving people shit for trying to perpetrate…shake their hand and thank them for their contribution…every little bit counts…. hahaha…this shit is great!!

  5. I fail to see how that bulletin in any way makes Ki a hypocrite. In his previous post he didn’t say anything about it being bad or wrong that scenesters would be reppin the shirts more than skaters. He just pointed out the fact that it’s weak….which it is. Like Ki I’m all for some non-skater money fueling skater agendas and lining skater pockets. I just think it’s incredibly weak and nearing blasphemy that I can’t find this T-shirt in my local skate shop. Why do I want to buy a shirt from Urban when the majority of the profits from said shirt are going to line some corporate fucks pockets. I’d rather those small profits line the pockets of people I support (like Nocturnal) and the rest of the money go to the park.

  6. “So instead of giving people shit for trying to perpetrate…shake their hand and thank them for their contribution…every little bit counts” VS “that is pretty weak. you’ll see more hipster scenester kids rocking this shit more than anyone else…”

  7. who gives a shit where they sell the tshirt at. the park needs funds in order to be built, ultimately it does not matter where that capital comes from. ….besides, in 6 months no one will want to rock that shirt anyway b/c style changes and kids want the “new shit”.

  8. the skate industry had its chance to help out and step up. they came up with 0. more like blank stares and shit talk. its sad to think people not associated with skateboarding will have done more to make the park happen than skateboarding itself.

  9. Why can’t the invitation to help be a permanently open invitation? Why has the chance passed? Can’t that door be re-opened? i agree w/ brandon — i think that urban will keep the bulk of the money that it earns from selling those shirts, and urban will end up giving the skaters the shaft. look at what they tried to do w/ quiet life! (****all respect due to my homeys who make their living working for urban****)

  10. not to be a pessimist but i dont honestly think the skate industry will be stepping up anytime soon with money. i was talking of the industry not kids.

  11. “Why can’t the invitation to help be a permanently open invitation? Why has the chance passed? Can’t that door be re-opened?” I don’t know if it has or it hasn’t.

  12. it makes perfect sense to me corporate cages for skateboarders (skateparks) having a fundraiser at a coporate cummodity whore house. god damn i love street skating

  13. Wamp wamp wamp…So I spoke my mind. Financially I really don’t give two shits about who rocks skate shit. But of course, as a person who eats, lives and breathes skateboarding, I DO. Hypocracy is something we all live and die by. So I stand by BOTH things I said. In hindsight, I could care less about alot of shit that goes along with skateboarding. Everyone wants to hold onto to a little piece of their own. But truthfully, skateboarding lost it’s soul a few Xgames ago…

  14. Oh, and on a side note, I have carefully scouted three, highly potential spots where I’m gonna stick some ledges at for the greater good of street skating in the city. It’s been too cold to get started, but once the weather breaks, I’m gonna put them up pretty quick. I bought the materials already, so it’s gonna be tight. And NO, unlike what some people may already be thinking…I’m not gonna be gay and hide them (or at least try to)..It’s gonna be available to all when I finish it. Cheers!!

  15. You are right, I had no reason to point out the haters, and i’m sorry for expecting a repeat of history. I wanted to point out a park with a similar cost mentality that has been given rave reviews. This business with skaters vs non skaters wearing skate stuff is nothing new. Posers? Remember the phrase? Those were the days. The truth about skateboarding is most companies are screwing over skaters or even just americans in one way or another in order to make a better profit. Whether its exploiting sneaker factory labor workers, over seas board manufacturing, inferior product development, or making bad television, its all bad for the longer run of skateboarding. The only way to really do anything is to get involved and start a brand you can be proud of knowing that your into it for the true love. Then and only then can skateboarders take the industry back.

  16. By the way, I think there is a huge difference between someone trying to buy into the skate image and buying a fund raiser t-shirt for a public park.

  17. the problem here is that Ki actually post myspace bulletins. stop acting like you know what skateboarding is. last time I saw you, you were rockin a studded belt, purple laces and a sweet 59/50. shut it

  18. I skateboard on my own terms. It’s awesome. You may not see me skate, but those who do, know what goes down on the regular. Skateboarding and fun. NEVER FORGET. (I’ll back 59/50’s but not fashion skateboarding)

  19. and whoever the nameless person was that wrote that last post…you forgot to mention i had blonde hair too. peep game…

  20. Now that’s a hater. Nameless coward. Who was the coward talking about? Cause I could see both HB or Ki rockin that kit.

  21. Actually scratch that question. Who gives a fuck cause I know both Ki and HB could be wearing a clown suit or maybe some scuba gear and their still gonna rip it on the stick and that’s all that matters.

  22. when the xgames was in philly someone made up ‘fuck those dudes’ stickers in ESPN font. those things were bomb. to tell the truth i hate both sides. corporate skateboarding and dudes that are too core for their own good. get over yourself. and i have some spots in mind for some ledges/trans comes spring as well. fishtown is gonna blow shit up.

  23. this whole im a badass/true skater dude image is so old on here. this topic on this site comes up at least once a month. same ol bullshit from the same old cry babys

  24. I lost my skate rat status, years ago…i try to hold onto whatever I have left. I think that’s why a lot of us butt heads on here so much. We all love skateboarding so much and are afraid of losing that feeling we had when we first started…so we do whatever we can to protect it. Its never gonna be like it was. Its something we all need to accept. (including myself) Who are we to really say what’s right and what’s wrong?? I think if we all spent more time actually skating….we’d forget about the dumb shit. But when you get older…on comes more responsibilities and obligations… I feel everyone’s views on here…whether or not we agree…I respect your opinions…because when we see each other…and we’re skating…none of this shit matters at all. We’re just glad to be apart of a good time….
