Paine’s Park Project

Dear Friends,

Please join Franklins Paine, area business people, state and local politicians, and the like as we launch the $6 million capital campaign to build Philadelphia’s next great landmark: a world class, pedestrian friendly multi-generational Skatepark.

Nestled between the thriving Schuylkill river trail and the heart of the historic Parkway corridor, this 2.5 acre public park will welcome skaterboarders and pedestrians alike and will serve as a vibrant recreational space for suburban and inner city youth along with residents and out of town visitors.

An inspirational public space where all of its users will enjoy an authentic Philadelphia experience: a celebration of the natural environment and the unique urban diversity of our great city.

Come hear about the project, tour the site, take in the wonders of the revitalized Schuylkill Banks and learn more about how to get involved.

In order to best plan for attendees please RSVP:

  1. keep skateboarding ill-legal!
    just kidding nugget.
break some bread with those suitors

  2. I hope some people are coming. The fact that this is happening shows that the city is still in support, FPSF is still working hard and the skaters may soon get what they want.

Sorry about the typo Brad, got it fixed.

  3. This city isn’t ENTIRELY filled with ungrateful skateboarders. Some of us out there are trying to be suppportive, instead of childish about this project.

  4. My guess is that after a year or two of being allowed to skate at this non-skatepark skateboard friendly plaza it will be illegal to skate there just like everywhere else. I think i’ll just go ride heelys…

  5. feel free to contact me and learn how we are working with Fairmount Park to prevent such a catastrophe from happening.

    Thanks,

    Grateful skater

  6. I bet soon they are going to have motocross at FDR only, cause you know when the city sees how cool it is to ride motorcycles on a concrete skatepark they will tell skaters to go away, which we will do since we are ungrateful and don’t feel any attachment to our park.

    (sarcasm)

You can check out the meeting on Tuesday or you can complain and act like nothing is happening.

  7. let’s be real. that place is gonna be sick when it’s done. WHEN it’s done. for now the rest of us need to get off our asses and build some new spots. ideas?

  8. The street park at FDR is really coming along, well sort of. Well actually those ledges are so rough, not sure what to make of it just yet. There is also a curved balance beam thing that used to be across the street in the park and now people try to skate it on its side. Supper sketch!
