I assume most people have seen the new cover and interview with Sheckler. The kickflip is amazing and his skating is real solid. I personally can’t quite get down with the jockism of skateboarding. And if you read the interview think he could have done a better job of just saying “Who cares what people think of me.” Instead it was more like, “I am going to show all my fans how great I am, you’ll see.” I hope this kid does not pull a Gator. It’s a lot of pressure when dudes like Jamie Thomas and Eric Koston are making fun of you. The show sucks, hands down… no skateboarding and tons of bratty rich kid moments. What do you think?

yeah, eldridge!
Like in any art form it is allways difficult to draw a line between the artist and thier lifestyle…but in all actuallity the truest artforms are those that encapsulate the artists life (as a whole)…this is what determines integrity. Does Ryan Sheckler skate for fame? Or does Ryan Sheckler skate for Skating’s sake? WHO CARES?
sheckler…. should just start his on dating show next… because that is the path that dude is on…quit crying..YOUR NOT THE NEXT DANNY WAY…sorry..push a for bra and b for bro…your whack son..go drink a mountain dew
theres more important things to worry about than what Sheckler does. Like will Heidi and Lauren ever be friends again? Will Kim Kardashian ever date a white guy? Thats whats important to me. All you losers should get a life.
Your right… Indys!!!
You’re right Stamos. Nevermin dthat this is a site that talks about things in teh skateboard world. There are more important things in life, like being a loud obnoxious drunk. Nugget, “Indy’s” is a different topic altogether.
I picked up a Transworld at the airport, because it was the only goddamn skateboard magazine there, and it had an interview with Mister Sheckler. “You won’t want to miss this,” the cover said. I’m sure you all can devise that it was full of I-don’t-care-what-people-think-of-me banter. If that were true, there would be no TV show. The article sucked, and the magazine sucks five times as much as it did in 2001. So I missed the rest of the interview and skated this bangin’ Grindline park in Texas.
Well than lets talk about how the Independent 30th Anniversary tour is goin to Fredneck MD instead of FDR. All these core companies are a bunch of PUSSIES!!!
yeah fuck that we should be talkin bout our actual homie who is in there,,,, pete eldridge. good job dridge! “sometimes you gotta go away to make a comeback” words from the one and only beanie segal ps. skinny: press 1 for bro 2 for brah
All of this controversy is based on another persons intentions. What are Ryan Shecklers intentions and do they hold merit? If they do not hold merit, is there still a reason to respect him no matter what he does?
we all know that pete should be on the cover instead of some jock kid falling off a building but this is the world we live in. sheckler was right about one thing- skateboarding is different now and skateboarders are different now. it is now acceptable for a close minded jock doushe bag to pick up a skateboard and think that skating is one big contest to collect sponsors and shiny rims. shit done changed.
Damn, fuck what the kid says. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan but you can’t beat that fucking KF he’s got on the cover… Seriously! That shit is sick and you know you can’t knock it. And, I mean, isn’t the kid like 16 or 17. We were all ignorant little pricks then. He’ll probably grow up a little more and mature with age.
agreed… that kick flip is GNARLY. you think he’s using mirrors again? just kidding…sometimes people need a scapegoat…and yes ryan sheckler YOU ARE THE SCAPEGOAT…for corporate skateboarding as a whole. In reality we are all part of this skate epedemic…but AH YEAH is it really that bad the indusrty is flooded with money again?
The question – Is an obviously amazing skateboard trick deserving of respect regardless of who is doing it? Does Ryan Shecklers kickflip deserve respect if his personal character or conduct are not deserving of reward, honor, or esteem? To dumb it down, if someone is a total prick and not a very good representation of skateboarding, do you respect their ability on the skateboard? Or does the fact that they are an idiot destroy any respect they get for doing any trick whatsoever?

please, continue to bitch about sheckler, or love him. The Kickflip is fucking huge, no doubt. The more you talk about all this, the better my search results become. I like how I don’t really read skate magazines anymore, but they are reading haveboard, though! Next time, if anyone sees havebaord mentioned in a mag, please don’t wait until two issues later to tell me about it. I’d like to get a copy of the issue where they mentioned the post about Bam’s Liquor License, but it may be too late.
hating on sheckler is like vulcanized soles…everybody’s doing it…..shit’s old. anyone, and I mean ANYONE saying they’d turn down the opportunities this kid has is a liar…flat out. he rips..so what if he’s a jock? not everyone’s approach to skateboarding is the same…he’s still out there…pushing progression. he kills it.he also EARNED everything he has…you don’t like his show? don’t watch it…do you….its funny how his career is going so much further now that people are hating on him..he’s getting interviews in everything…keep it up shecks!!….without hate, ain’ t no love!!
It’d be a better photo if he was kickflipping Kim Kardashian’s rack. This dude is the epitome of everything that has gone wrong w/ skateboarding.
Who is this boy?
that kickflip just looks like falling off something to me. the most popular skater being the antithesis of what most old heads consider to be a skater is just weird.
this dude is not the future of skateboarding. alex olson is.
These damn kids today! They’re all so good that I’m forced to hate on their skating abilities based off their personalities. This kid totally rips it, but he likes lifting weights and he’s not into Minor Threat so he fuckin blows! Whatever happened to a good ole flat ground 180 or maybe a curb sesh? Oh I wish I wasn’t so old and bitter. Put me out of my misery. Argh!
You know, I don’t really care who this boy is, or what he likes to do with his time, or what songs he thinks are the best. It makes no difference to me. I don’t hate him, I am not bitter, or whatever, but it is funny to see so much controversy. He went off of the DWay super ramp, so he is not a chicken for sure. Just rolling down that thing is something else, I can’t imagine doing it.
oh shit…that fool did the mega ramp? godd damn!!!
I love my mom.
and my girlfriend i dont have
my lava lamp broke and killed my pet lobster guy
I dig his little brother’s style a lot more. I admit I’ve watched a couple episodes.
