NO BMX!

I was not aware of the fact that BMX riders were trying so hard to build a case for riding in skateparks. Why is it so hard for BMX riders to see that skating in a park with bikes at the same time really sucks. As well the damage done makes concrete edging not even possible.

“Parks for bikes and parks for skateboards are built the same, but the people who run these local skateparks insist on shutting their eyes and dont see this–they insist on keeping their eyes shut to any input that might show them that they are wrong. They plug their ears and wont listen to reason. They are in charge–they have been lied to by park builders, still, their decision making is senseless.”

  1. I totally agree. There’s a park here in phoenix that allows bikes and you can’t even ride it half the time because you don’t want to get ran over

  2. All you need to do is jump up with your knees out when you see a bike coming… problem solved.

  3. Fuck bikes. That constantly ruin every single park they’re allowed in by either destroying the coping/ramps or by over crowding the place. Go ride some dirt trails or something douchebags.

  4. ^^ Wah! Every time I go to the park some douche bag skater is too busy not landing heel flips or some other trick. If you built it, you can bitch about it – truth.

  5. hey trail rider:”the park”? FDR? I personally have nothing against BMX (or bikes in general), but @ FDR it’s another story.

  6. BMX has just as much right to ride the park as any of you…they just shouldn’t be allowed to grind shit. Instead of “No Bikes” it should be “No Pegs”. Fixed gear is way lamer than BMX. BMX takes some balls where as fixed gear requires tight pants and bad taste in indy rock or emo. You get bonus fag points if your handle bars are less than 9 inches across. Douches.

  7. I know fdr was built by skaters and you have ever right to bitch at bikers. I don’t ride there, I only push around and try to carve on my board and I respect it. It is these public parks in other cities that are paid for by tax payers in most cases – so if you did not build those, don’t bitch.

  8. What I think is so crazy is that riding a bike is fun, tons of fun. Going fast and jumping far is crazy, scary and dangerous. Doing a grind is for a skateboard, invented by skateboarders. Doing it on a bike is lame. You have to add bars to the bike to do it. Skateboarding created the scene that so many other action freaks want so badly to get into. If the BMX scene was really concerned with their rights they would lobby for their own parks for 20 years like most of these skateparks you claim the city tax dollars pay for. It is a hell of a lot more complicated then that. Kids have to get killed on their skateboard or droves of arrests at a public plaza before a city gives up a sliver of land for our use. Then bikers show up at meeting number 15 and demand their slice. If fdr could be made out of dirt for skaters it would be a mile long already. We’ve got the drive and push that bikers will never have.

  9. I have no pegs, I don’t care about grinds. Though since you did them first, I guess you deserve all the credit. People have different tastes. I like riding and skating, hence being on this site. I had a reply earlier, but it vanished. The drive part is bs for people that dig in the woods like myself as we have to build and rebuild year after year. In most cases, most of the trails in PA are some of the best in the world and cover acres, not miles. You are a lawyer by trade and will piss and moan and I will always be wrong. Carry on. Liking only one thing sucks.

  10. Trail dude, cmon’ you know what’s going on here. You ride trails, that’s great. I don’t think you bother skaters in their 50ft x 50ft sanctioned concrete zone. Your in the woods doing your own thing. Your name is Trail Rider. It was just a little off color when you had to throw around an ignorant comment like “some douche bag skater is too busy not landing heel flips or some other trick.” So some of us responded. If skateboards had wheels the size of bike tires we could trail ride with ya and you could complain about us destroying your log coping, but it’s not working out that way. Why bother reading Haveboard any way? Is this just more proof that bikers need to watch skaters to find out whats next? Here’s a hint, we’re building our own shit nowadays.

  11. Goddamn, Nugget. You are a skateboarding statesman. You know how to handle that shit. And you did it well that one night back in ’05 at the meeting for what was then-called SRSP. “Show of hands, how many BMX riders are here tonight?” And remember that yuppie wanting skateboarding to be restricted to the interior of the park? I would’a just gotten frustrated and been at a loss of words, but you handled that shit really well.

  12. I am sorry for the heel flip comment. As I said, I enjoy skating and riding, otherwise I would have never found this spot since this site shows a lot of good stuff for skating (which I like). I just took that headline the wrong way and got crazy, kind of like the heel flip thing… right? Oh well, shit happens. You keep doing your thing and I will keep sucking on a board, but I will keep randomly sending paypal $ to the FDR fund (which I do each year) so it ensures that I can carve the walls and fall. I bet there are a lot of skaters that ride and bitch at bikers that don’t donate, so focus on them as they are too busy “trying to fit into the scene you created”.

  13. This post was to inform skaters of a larger movement to protest skateparks from BMX riders. No hard feelings toward anyone who’s out there making something active happen for them selves.
