Falls Township Skatepark

After hearing that the bowl at the Falls Township park (near Levittown) was brought in in pieces on a flatbed truck, I was a little worried about skating it. Amazingly, it is pretty sick. The rest of the park is prefabbed and some of it is fun (hips, boxes) while some of it blows (mini-ramp is too big with not enough flatbottom), but the bowl is awesome. Nice transitions, nice height (about 5 feet with a 6 foot extension), and perfectly smooth concrete. Unfortunately I tried to skate it a few weeks back and the park is closed for the winter (?). I also heard a rumor that the city council up there was so shocked by the amount of kids interested in skating it that they are trying to make it like a public pool and charge a membership fee. You know helmet rules would follow that. Needless to say, I don’t really have the scoop on this place. Anybody have any more info on this? It’s only like 30 minutes north of the city and well worth skating as long as it is free and padless. Anyway, that’s Dan Hetrich killing it in the photos (as usual).

  1. parks so fun! however, im a backer of the mini ramp. its to tall and doesnt have enough flat bottom… that just means u gotta go and think fast. comin from people who skate the warehouse, this shit should be nothing! (sniff sniff sniff) smells like bitchassness

  2. That place is awesome….i go there to tighten up the manny skills…and the flatground is hella smooth.

  3. there is a no helmet rule. it’s closed til march. The board is voting to have it monitored soon, which means it will be treated like a public pool; i.e have to pay. the vote is happening soon, we need people to go to the meeting and let them know why it shouldn’t be monitored. ill let you know more as i get the info.

  4. jb, please do keep us posted. and when you say “there is a no helmet rule” does that mean that you have to wear one or not? it wasn’t an issue the time i skated up there.

  5. I went here on Easter. The bowl is amazing and small. Not too tight and not too mellow. There is loads of flat ground and then a bunch of skatewave ish modular ramps that are ok including a 6ft mini ramp. Also there are a few plastic grind boxes. There is no shade and some sort of lake next to the park. If its windy out its extra windy like being at the beach. I give it a thumbs up, but only when compared to other parks on the east coast.
