City Council to Vote on Amended Bill #120534 Tomorrow

Here we go again. If you have the opportunity to head down to City Hall tomorrow you should because the amendment to the infamous Philadelphia Anti Skateboarding Bill is scheduled to be voted on. Visit Franklin’s Paine for more information.

The new version of the bill now mandates signage to enforce, and reduces the $2,000 and 90 days in jail maximum penalty for skateboarding on marked public art, monument and memorial to a maximum $1,000 with no jail time.  While this is a positive change, $1,000 would still be the highest fine for skateboarding in the nation.  Note that section 10 – 200 of the bill on “Ethnic Intimidation and Institutional Vandalism” still carries jail time up to 30 days.

  1. Compromise= $200 fine for skating on a memorial/public art sculpture/monument with all proceeds going to build free public skateparks. Deal?
