Winter Training

My friend Joe Minuto hailing from Mastic, Long Island came to skate for a few days. We skated FMills and slipped all over on the plastic ramps. It seemed logical to us that a lightly snow glazed FDR would be better.

One of our first SkateNerd shirts was named after him and featured the band, Menudo. (like you care)

  1. I like how the snow looks, and this photo makes the dick look like it’s six feet tall. Wouldn’t it be fun to double the size of your dick? But in all seriousness, this is a neat fuckin’ photo.

  2. I don’t even want to talk about skate stuff made of plastic. Its wrong. Call me crazy. Unless its out doors its wrong. As far as a mop goes, most skateparks are run by teenagers (some times that don’t skate, remember Vans?) do you expect them to do their job and mop every day? C’mon.

Its a kickflip fakie. Not the craziest photo, but shooting skate photos with a cannon elf is pretty dam hard, especially at FDR. Ultra dark mixed with bright light is tough with out a radio flash.

On a side note, can anyone help me get a fish eye lens for my cannon 35 mm?

  3. Did anyone notice the ice skates hanging from the bridge? I like to comment on my own post, I learned it from watching Ki.

  4. I love when inanimate objects post correcting people. Thanks Hemp. I tried to smoke my limited edition Hemp Nike’s and although I got real messed up, i did not feel stoned.

  5. Hemp also makes a GREAT skateboard. I’ve seen one of those Habitat hemp-plies get run over by a car and not even crack! It’s great for skateboarders but bad for skateboard companies — [sarcasm] especially when it’s a blank.[/sarcasm]

  6. wahh waaahhh waahhh…the park is slippery…blah blah blah…Every indoor park is slippery. Just adapt and get over it. If FDR was slippery, would you stop skating it? No. You’d get used to it….This topic is old, and definitely….later’d.

  7. Ouch! I’ve been later’d.
Every indoor park IS NOT slippery, only the ones that use plastic.

  8. Not true at all. 360, when it was around, had all masonite surfacing but it was probably the most slippery park I’ve ever skated. The floors there were ridiculous.

  9. No way. Boarderline is WAAAYYY worse in the slip department than 360 — at least in my experience. One of my favorite aspects of FDR is how fuckin’ grippy everything is. I skated this masonite mini ramp this evening, and it gripped like a motherfucker! Good times were had by all.

  10. if all u wanan do it bitch about parks..then dont go? or go mop yourself..stop being so damn lazy…seems like thats all older dudes like to do is complain…if u could land better you wouldnt have a problem…BUT we all know you cant

  11. Boarderline is an ice rink, and I still go there. Just land proper and you’re golden…So you slip out a few times? Big deal. Half the fun is the make, especially when you feel like you are gonna slide out, and you pull it anyway…..That’s awesome..

  12. First of all “old dudes” don’t land because we don’t leave the ground. It’s about carving. The slip floor, the slip flat bank, the slip landing is not what i am talking about. I am talking about the tranny. Lets mop it, lets pour soda on it, lets draw faces on it, lets piss all over it! How about we use something else?

Ki, I dont need a park to tell me to land proper. If some rollerblader put too much wax on a ledge and you fell because of it, you would yell at him to knock it off.

All love my friends, except for the haters.

  13. I used to live with Specimen from Elite, and he used to always try to drag me to FDR…I would look at my new griptape, fresh Polo shirt and white shoes….and decline that offer every time….I don’t know when I went from being a skate rat to a premadonna…But it’s sad…

  14. Never once complained about overwaxed ledges. Just go faster and adapt its not that hard.
