And I have a bum ankle, so I get to carry a camera bag around all day on a bike. I’ll be the douche bag with the tuxedo t-shirt on, holla! Also, I’ll be posting my video from last night’s “video night” at space1026. It was a good time. Check it out under “recent video clip” over there—->

I just tried to take the train. Septa can suck my dick. Not a single parking space in the lot. I hate parking a car in Philly. I’m gonna go to FDR instead. At least I can park there.
the clip wont be up till way later, it’s taking to long and I need to get outside. Hang in there Jorge..
Don’t get stuck in traffic. Always ride public transportation.
Maybe the lots are full because of all these pesky people with their silly jobs who don’t keep it real?
can’t wait to go skate later! so nice in SF today.
Some people also do crazy things like take a BUS to the train. Nutjobs, every last one of them.
i said whats up to ya haveboard goin to the bridge spot …
Seriously, people are scumbags for blowing up the bridge spot like that. Cops were throwing people out of there later in the day. Why would you bring HUNDREDS of people and the Philadelphia media to an illegally built spot. It’s just gonna get the shit torn down again. This is why we have so much trouble getting parks built. Because people don’t fucking think.
I hate to say, “I told you so.” but if the shoe fits…………Bummer eh? People suck. No one does think. I am glad I wasn’t there for that.
ur glad u weren’t there ki? while everyone went to bridge spot, a bunch of us stayed at love… we skated there bust free for hours. the cops let us skate until about 6. it was one of the funnest days of my life. skate love bust free with all my friends… couldn’t get any better. trust me, if u weren’t in texas at a rollerblading camp, u would be regretting not coming to skate love
oh ya, when u get back i’m taking some scissors to ur whack boston fitted and cutting out the bottom loop and turning the B into a P, hahah that would be great
Well from what I was told by everyone, Love was friggin mobbed anyway. I didn’t miss too much, trust me on that. I went street skating today and baked in the 100 degree weather here. As far as having Philly pride, you don’t and have never even lived here. You’re a weekend warrrior. I’m glad you had fun though. I moved to Philly for Love Park and after it’s demise, and remembering what it used to be, it’s kinda hard to want to go back. It’s like having a car and getting your rims stolen. You can still drive it, but damn it don’t seem the same. I however, HAVE lived in Boston. I DO have Boston pride…The day you see me rocking some Philly shit will be the day it rains Skittles…..never gonna happen son….Keep shredding though. I’ll be back in July and I can show you my new sole grinds……..holla!!!
The best part of the day was watching Gonzo taste the pavement all over the city. Whether it was Lombard, 9th St, Love Park, Chestnut, or even down at the shit park he just had to get a taste of that sweet sweet pavement.
You didn’t miss anything at Love Ki. It was insane. Dirty hippies running around with their puppets stinking up the place. Every kid under the sun trying to stick a bs180 down the 3 stair or land a nose slide on the one ledge. It was cool to see how many people were there, but there wasn’t much skating going on. Fact is that Love will never be what it used to be. Oh well.
The best part of the day was actually skating from spot to spot with everbody. It was kind of funny to see how many kids pick up their boards and walked after a few blocks. Some people just aren’t used to skating from spot to spot I guess.
I got a shit load of pics that I’m going to post tonight when I get home from work. I’ll put the link on here when I’m done.
yeahhh i was all over the place…but i was so hyped on skating with that many people. serioulsy that shit ruled. Standing at second street for two hours blew donkeys, and i heard that some kids wanted to, like, stop and session other spots…but hey this is philly and we only have (or had) one skatepark.
as for the bridge spot being blown up: we knew from the get go that the place would get torn down. all of the effort we made to build the spot was in prep for yesterdays event, and i was REALLY psyched to see literally a thousand people skating that shit.
I am bummed that the cops took out scott kip’s 15 foot manual pad before everyone could skate it….i was really glad that we got to skate it the night before.
Ki, you got no ground to stand of for hating on yesterday’s shit. I’ve never skated with literally a thousand people at the same time…it was amazing. If anything i’d be salty that i missed it. Wait till finnegan posts the footage that he got from the group skate to / from love park.
“It was kind of funny to see how many kids pick up their boards and walked after a few blocks. Some people just aren’t used to skating from spot to spot I guess.” A major problem with skaters these days. Hopefully they learned that the best part of skating isn’t just throwing themselves down a 7 stair and walking back up again.
ok, so i guess its time for everyone to start crying about shit park, or bridge spot, or whatever you wanna call it. It wasnt supposed to be permanent, and when building it, we didnt expect for it to last, i really didnt care if it lasted for more than a few days anyway, as long as i got to skate what i made at least a few times, im happy. Yes it got blown out, but its time to move on, there is plenty of other shit out there. And i really think its time people got over the whole love park thing. I mean come on, we have a whole city to skate. STREET skate. get on the streets and fucking skate. how hard is that. Not very hard considering we do it everyday. There is always someone crying about something, might as well start writing poems about it. What is it going to take for people, skaters, to be a little creative and inventive and do what skaters have always done and just fucking get on there board and go. Now i know that these days its all about “training”. And Love and Brigde spot are kinda like “training grounds”, but its time to leave that shit in the past. You can still get you flip tricks wired cruising down the street, over manholes, out of curb cuts, in front of cars, and you can still get your ledge tricks wired by hitting the many ledges along the many routes through the city. Besides, there is so much more to skating than flip tricks and ledge tricks. And this city offers any kind of spot you could ask for. Just open up your eyes, and dont limit yourselves to trends, and media hype. STICK AND MOVE. Love isnt the only spot, and damn it, its been years already. Get over it. It was good while it lasted. Its good that you cant really skate there anyway, because now you dont have anyone trying to out do what has already gone down in history. The moral of the story is get out there and skate, get over Love Park, and if Shit Park is done, oh well, the sessions were great while they lasted. I bet the ones crying, arent even the ones who lifted a finger to help get shit done. Yeah, Emerica put up funds for shit park, but they also destroyed it too. Just dont cry into your pillow at night. Where is the next spot going to be?
So what happened down there anyway? I got there just before 7:00 and there was no one, just an old lady acting she, and not Ed, has personally cleaned the whole park. No BBQ?
cops kicked everyone out around 5:30
yea I keft the shitpark at 5 oclock to go get food on south street and just chill. I returned back to the shitpark at around 8. no one was there but then a couple of people did show up and we skated for a while…no cops at that point. I also skated the bridgespot nice and early from 10-11:30 with barely anyone there. That manual pad was so sick…
So, will it be destroyed right away?
that’s the question we’re waiting to be answered. there is a possibility that the spot will live for the rest of the summer. One way or the other: skate.
One thing I can say is that I sort of live in that area now and two of the biggest concerns that people in my neighborhood have are litter and parking. Everyone complains about these things. Even the crazy old people steeped in opinion and bias. So, if we need to make a case for ourselves, stress that there are a lot of skaters in the area, that there are only small parks, that skating makes noise which is not welcome in the tiny streets, and that skaters will take care to pick up their trash (as Ed already demonstrated). I would not mention that the area is a parking lot. That word, parking, sets people off down there.
the shitpark was so clean wehn i came back to the spot later on that night.
Holy fuckin’ Christ, have you guys seen the massive construction happening at FDR???
Anyone else having problems with the “Space” quicktime movie? I can’t see it, only hear it. What a bug out! Haveboard hook it up, bro!
Yes, I did see it and I saw you there making a contribution.
I just got back from FDR, shit is completely off the fucking hook, huge fucking cement truck, lots of workers, new walls going up, old walls getting smoothed out, FOURTH OF JULY WILL BE MAYHEM FOR SURE!
OK, so I updated all my shit and it plays like butta. Nice work “93”! Holla.
sounds like Philly had a good time. 93, where’s the wedding photos???
The thing about the shit park being a parking lot is partially true. The lot is technically owned by the United Artist theater I’m pretty sure. Whether it is or not no one ever parks there. Hell the gate wasn’t even open before the past few months, that thing was locked up forever.
Living in South Philly myself I know what your talking about when you say discussing parking sets people off. There’s never enough parking around. But a good argument is like I said earlier, no one ever parked there. It’s a privately owned lot and has been locked up until recently. I think the lock was probably broken by skaters so people could skate the rail.
But whatever happens to the shit park happens. As with the last 2 years it’s been fun while it lasted. So we’ll just have to wait and see.
i think we need to be on guard, it might be a possibility that the police might try to perpetrate, and try to find out info on everyone. Im sure they are watching somehow. just be wise
I am watching you Dr. Sinister.
the fuzz found out about the San Antonio event for yesterday and gave out 20 tickets and arrested one person. the baet cop may not be too smart but the office cops have some brains.
Maybe stop glueing logos onto the pillars?
The gate has been opened since the big snow storm, some SO. Philly residents were parking there during the winter, remember?
Ahh whatever, so I was off by a few months. Sue me.
That spot has two big enemies: cars (b/c the city will let them park there again when it snows), and Mummers………………….I can understand the posters if you guys thought that spot would get killed off, but if there’s any intent to keep it at the level it is now, that’s got to stop. That area needs to be kept pristine. Immaculate. Anything less is inviting trouble (even if it’s the residents that contribute to most of the litter)………….Not sure if the cops have decided what they want to do yet. We skated later last night, and although a police van drove by and offered up some verbal harrassment, they didn’t bother to drive in and ticket/arrest anyone.
ahhh fuck it just come down and skate me. no need to over analyze the situation. if u want tho come down w’/ some crispy cremes or some sort of dunkin donuts variety pack or some shti. woo the cops with some sweet treats possibly refreshment.s. sometime syougoota pay a price.
yeah smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay. Okay….Here’s the deal. Am I sorry I missed that day….Yeah Kinda. Truth be told, even though I was told it WAS crowded, I would have liked have been a part of it. One way or another. The thing that bums me out the most is that the bridge spot will probably be toast now and forever. It really sucks. People are right. Nothing, as far as skateboarding goes, is permanent, be it pros, companies, spots, whatever. I know bridge spot was just another spot, but anyone who knew about it was there at least one time or another. There were people, such as myself, clocking some seriuous hours in at that place. It’s really funny how much fun kids can have spending not even $10,000 on a place to skate. Townships and metropolis’ spend numerous amounts of tax payers money to build some shit have the kids out there don’t even want to skate!!! Bridge spot started with a few of us taking a car jack to some parking blocks and moving them around to get a session going. I am proud of the people who took some initiative to maintain and police that place. I really am. That time in my life I was actually proud in this city as far as the skateboarding scene went. I used to go down there numerous times just to clean that place up, and people would always help out. I loved coming down there and seeing how people took it upon themselves to make something new. No matter how bad the thing may have been that was built, someone ALWAYS ripped it. Just take a second and imagine how cool it would be if that place turned into a street version of FDR? I mean look at FDR now and think back to what the city actually did. You wouldn’t even recognize it.Skateboarders creatived minds built that place. And even though I sucked tremendously at skating there, I take my hat off to the shredders that do. What if the city sanctioned bridge spot??? That would be a real blessing. Living literally four blocks away from the place and seeing it’s demise, knowing how much effort was put into, really kills me. But people are right. You have to move on. Skateboarding is about constant movement. Make the most out of every session. No matter if you’re skating a curb in front of the liquor store, or a perfect ledge in Barcelona. Make the most of it. Bridge spot…..I had my fill. Love Park…….I had my fill. But I am pretty sad to see it all go. I guess you’re right. I shouldn’t be so bitter about it all, but how can I not??? So many good times have went down at both places. I have made sooo many friends. Seriously, running from the police was half the fun at Love. I have more storie about that than anything. Building up bridge spot was just as fun too. So I have a right to be salty. As far as 6 million kids mobbing the city……..Cool shit. Whether you got to skate Love or not that day, as long as you were there with your board, you made a real difference. You kicked society in the ass for at least one day…….. And for that….it was well worth it… Sorry I missed out. I was in the street here, but the only wild thing I did was get sunburn filming a trick I never landed…… Go skateboarding everyday!!!!
How’d you get the car jack under the parking blocks?
Small japanese cars use smaller car jacks…….you do the math……..never teach the Wu-Tang…..
or u could just use a pole and a cinderblock
Well you could do that, but then you won’t look as clever in fron of your friends. Just stick a crowbar underneath and start to pry it up. Then stick a car jack under one end and a brick under the other. It works. My friends call me the black McGeyver. Just call me ” Mr.Niggeyver…..”
I move those blocks around that spot like its nobody’s business. I run circles around your car jack method.
i bench press parking blocks every morning before work. Its part of my routine. Every once in a while i get mad though, and i have to slap a camel clutch on one of those damn blocks. Just like the Iron Sheik would. So fuck your jacks and im calling you out Hand Truck, me vs. you, anytime, anyplace. Oh Yeah, Macho Madness. Hulkamania running wild……………………………………………………….
You all worry way to much about stuff. It’s skateboarding! We aren’t picking a president or anything like that. Stop complaining about the bridge spot and Wild in the streets, and just skate. If you go there and it is gone then it is; Move on and skate somewhere else. Stop complaining back and forth about what should be done or what needs to be done. Shoulda’, coulda’, woulda’ doesn’t matter. Believe me if I shoulda, coulda, woulda, when I go to AC gambling I would be a rich man. Just go skateboard and don’t worry what anyone else is doing because you can’t control the actions of 10000 kids.
Shit load of images and movies in the Phot Gallery on this site: http://www.roadkillskates.com
Hell Yeah Mazur, thats what i have been trying to tell everyone, but people like to cry at night……………..
