Women skaters should get paid the same. The fact that they don’t and that they have to compete separetly, is lame. Good luck in the contest, hopefully your foot will let you skate.

I agree, DO. I think more girls in general should skate, too. Skateboard can feel like a sausage fest at times.

City Stars IS back…He is in the process of putting together a new team as we speak. As far as girls go in this contest, they are skating separately. Too bad there are only 3 girls in the whole thing and the one girl is pretty damn good while the others can barely ride down the ramps.
Just for the record….Jereme Rogers won. After puking on the large set of stairs, his shoes, and his board, he proceded to full cab his way into a $12,500 victory!!
girls should get paid the same money for the same work, no doubt. but girls dont do the same work on a skateboard. if you havent noticed dudes are better than girls at this kind of stuff. i wish more girls skated for real but like elissa said ” if i was a dude, id be out of a job.”
Yes, it’s true girls don’t perform like guys, but I really think that’s because there are less girls out there, and the standards are lower for them. If there were more girls pushing each other, they’d be progressing more and more.
Since there were only three girls in the contest for the girls division, everyone made money. Third place came up on at least $300 and first got $1000.
my point exactly. standards are waaaay lower. 3 girls!? how can you possibly grade them the same. there were like what 200 dudes there? and a big ass chunk of them ripped and went home pennyless. snowboarding and surfing both have a bunch of ripping girls some of which are mad cute. skating is to rugged for most ladies. bummer.
However! Summer has better style and tricks than most guys. And there was that skinny girl (junkie, perhaps?) at FDR a few years ago who skated faster than most of the guys. I wonder what happened to her. Maybe my assumption is correct.
Lacey Baker…..google her….She is absolutely ridiculous….I saw firsthand…..She skates better than most guys…Tell me how many girls you know who can hardflip a pyramid in their contest run??
we could totally delve into the social contraints put on young girls to be pretty and not endanger themselves or jepordize the chance of meeting a nice boy and a million other unjust things that dont belong on this post. point is ya cant make em skate and ya cant make em run girl photos in mags or have a dude buy a girls board. sucks. oh well. ki, hows kareem feel about all this?
As far as talking to Kareem, only time will tell. He seems way too nice to put anything negative in print. However, I will be spending part of my summer with him in the lovely state of Texas. He’s a super nice dude for sure. But when it comes to riding a girls board, I had Elissa’s first board when she rode for Toy Machine. She rips…
