Nike owns Converse and now Adidas owns Reebok. Krooked video premiere in SF on May 18th. I overheard some rumors about Gonz getting Run DMC to do a song for his part, that’s why it took so long. I’ll be there. But if you are going to support skate shoes my vote goes to DVS (cause of the video), I-Path (cause they get you high, not the shoes, the employees), Vans, and VOX.
For the record, my misery without a skateboard started last year, June 15th, in a pair of DVS Hufs. Fast forward to this past January, a fresh pair of Adidas, and BANG, rolled the ankle AGAIN! This time, increasing the original damage. I’ve skated in plenty of adidas over teh years, but I have wide feet, and so I seem to fold easier in a pair of Adidas. but you know what, I love me a pair of all black Adidas Shelltoes. Adidas, no hard feelings, the Gonz, mad respect. This thread is interesting. The sneaker industry and skating is a fine line to walk.

If sneakers touched my penis, I’d probably take more of a liking to them. I just think the whole sweatshop idea is foul. You know who maintains good manufacturing ethics? New Balance. Their shoes are made in factories with fair labour practices, and they’re not not made from animals. I wish New Balance made a skate shoe.
ive seen suede new balances before, but on the skate shoe subject, I think some of those are skateable.
Tried skating in some NBs before, 30 minutes later, rolled ankle. From now on I need to make sure I have some wide bottoms on my kicks from here on out.
yo Jon, instead of skating in skateshoes, just skate wearing shoeboxes on your feet, i bet you would never roll your ankle ever again, just reinforce em with a little shoegoo and some duct tape. I bet if you did this, kids would follow suit and it would be the new hot shit for all those with bad problems rolling there ankles. You might even be able to eventually get s shoebox sponsor or even a siganture HaveBoard shoebox. Could be awesome.
P.S. it might be a little hard to do all those flip tricks that you can do without hitting your nose or tail on the ground wearing shoeboxes, but hey, you gotta make some sacrifices in the name of safety, right!

i think its interesting to look at skate shoes from like 4 years ago when they all had a minimum of 5 air bubbles, 18 types of material sewn together to look like a futurisic suitcase of something. now they look like they did 15 years ago when all we wore was half cabs and airwalk enigmas chopped down. basically i think gonzos on point this time.
