The Standard In Which Stardom Is Measured..

Can you hardflip? Think about that question for a secondSince when did a hardflip become the predominant judging stick in which all tricks are measured?? Never have I been asked by a kid if I can firecracker stairs, or even if I can do a heelflipKinda crazy.

Evidently a hardflip is a nationwide benchmark.

After all these years, on a board, Can you do a hardflip? seems to be the most popular question of choice. Followed by the traditional tried and true OTHER question of choiceAre you sponsored?

But my question is.why? Some of my favorite pro like Darrel Stanton & Nate Jones are not none for their hardflips. Or what about someone like Peter Hewitt?? Hes been on a killing spree lately. Does his lack of a hardflip make him any less of a pro??

I guess it gives me something to truly think about next time Im pushing around at a demo.

  1. just dont skate in demos Ki, and you will have nothing to worry about…..hardflips are lame anyway, unless you do em like Mike Carrol! If a kid asks me if i can do a certain trick, i just ask him if he knows how to turn….that usually throws em off for a second.

  2. I tell ’em, YES. If they ask to see it, I ask for their board and break it. Then I do a kickflip and say, “See it is a lot harder to flip it now”.

After inferring firecrackers are somehow comparable to hardflips, or even suggesting they’re real tricks at all, I’d like to send one streaming towards your face. You can be pro without doing any good tricks at all, look at terry kennedy. And the nationwide benchmark in skateboarding is stupidity. Not many skaters exist that offset that.

It makes perfect sense, but kids don’t understand the fundamentals of skateboarding so they don’t actually get it when you ask them if they know how to turn. A firecracker is TOTALLY A TRICK!   8. basically what youre saying is that kids are dumb? surprise! theyre little kids! theyve been skating for a year tops and skateboarding is crazy these days! not to mention that most of them have tried a million hardflips but have never skated to the store and back! remember “go skate day”? thousands of piss peddlers getting run over by each other! the state of skateboarding is gross yet skateboarding remains the funnest ever. weird.

  13. i make no cents, but i no how to turn. i play chicken with cars. i can flip my board too. i cant seem to understand or care to comprehend the mentality of the whole of skateing. i guess there is no more $oul left. This must be some kind of music video we are dwelling inside of. Gangstas, Wankstas, and Prankstas. Everyone is THE shit, yet noone is SHIT! Whats up with that.   30. I agree with Dr.$ on this one…Mike Carrol has a hardflip that should be done. Mariano and P-rod to. But i thought that trick died years ago when muska mutilated it? Kids i thought where all about 360 flips these days, guess im wrong
