Tim O’Connor’s New shoe on Adidas is out, and they held a ROAST for Timmy. Nieratko got the mic and tore a new one for the whole industry and it rules so much. I know this is sorta old news, but it has to be seen. Nieratko makes some great points, like TWS and Army ads, Nike and their shitty video, and just calling BS on the industry in general.

Yeah! Dam, NJ has produced some of the most important people in skateboarding. Thanks Chris for telling it like it is. It was worth the look on Reese’s face when he got dogged about Nike. I hope I see a post here where someone says, “Dude, let them make some bling, who cares!”

Hey, I love the guy…but if he’s serious about dissing Nike he won’t pocket all the cash. I’m no Birdo, that guy is worse, but it’s hard to swallow his “fucked by companies” line when he’s a big Nike dude.

Personally I think Nike is making the best skate shoes out there,pushing the materials etc. everyone else is making “Half Cab rip offs” or other classically dated designs. The Nike video however was self indulgent piece of tripe but the shoes are tight, and they have skaters running there design (Carboy being one of them) over there so they are legit. Sole Tech, Vans, DC and these other “core companies” are corporations just the same as Nike make no mistake and they have “f’ed” the shops selling to chain Mall stores and discount chains, Nike SB you usually can only find in core shops and thats what has kept a lot of shops from going out of business. Also anyone who says “don’t do it” is really saying buy my stuff instead, if the stuff was better it would speak for itself Birdo, stop preaching and start skating more! Right on NJ Skate Shop, you just hit on the tip of the iceberg!
Oh, the Nike battle is such a circle. Everyone working in skating is amazing, just because they are working in an area that we all believe in, especially when compared to other jobs out there. The truth is EVERYONE has opportunities to make good decisions and bad ones. The future of skating will once again be in the hands of the underground, if the heads involved these days get too greedy, making it nothing more then a mainstream fashion statement. All fashion trends die. So will the trend of skateboarding. I can guarantee that Nike would drop skating if that were to happen. The core skate brands will either go out of business or change their ways back toward the skater. Remember what happened to Airwalk and Vision Street Wear? Now their back with the worst ads i have seen since Transworld started taking out right guard ads. I dont blame shops for doing what they need to survive, i blame consumers for making stupid decisions and companies for getting greedy.
Nike puts skateboards on the shelves, and wheels in the case etc… A giant corporation that so many people think are fucking skateboarders are actually keeping core shops alive, while huge skate companies are just fucking them.
Skateboarding has no rules. Period. No one owns it. It doesn’t own you. It’s a piece of wood with some wheels on it. What you chose to do with it…is up to you. Wear Nike’s if you want. If you hate Nike, then don’t support them. But if Nike is gonna help keep core skateshops open, then JUST DO IT….Oh yeah, and Tim O’Connor rips and talks as much shit as I do…so give that boy a shoe!!!
