Chris Cole Week at The Berrics

The Berrics - Daily Ops-1Chris Cole is next up for Battle Commander at The Berrics. Dude needs no introduction cos he kills it and is one of the nicest ever.

Rumor has it there is some drunk bus action for the premiere of the next Zero video “Strange Days”, but I just read that on the internet so who knows.

  1. Chris is gonna shut the Berrics down like he’s the landlord. He’s gonna make it Reign…

  2. yeah dude chris cole is a beast. i woulda retired after ride the sky though. i mean back 3 the love fountain gap? doesn’t get much more gnar than that dude holy s.

  3. Hey, skateboarding like anything else, takes work to get good at. Some people work harder than others. And the payoffs, are different for everyone. Fortunately for him, he’s achieving everything he’s sought out to do. Can’t knock him or anyone else for staying focused…and succeeding as well as surpassing the impossible.

Chris is a good dude. His spot is well earned in the skateboard world..skateboarding is lucky to have him…

  4. find it funny that no one has commented on the deck art show, since this is the 2nd skate related showing in that gallery in consecutive months.

its too easy to hate isn’t it?

  5. how about how the show is benefitting STAY TRUE, which is a non-profit organization based in Philadelphia dedicated to offering under-privileged, at-risk youth the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become powerful agents of social/political change in their communities.

maybe if skateboarders took on this idea of social/cultural/political change a bit more seriously things would change for the better. Please see the Pops Project as an example.

  6. Way to change topic on your own post. Chris Cole used to push mongo. So rad. If I was a betting man I would put money on his win at S.K.A.T.E

  7. to jimshreds. I dont really care about the art show, but because you want us to hate on it I present the following.
    1. I hate it
    2. Its lame
    3. Its killing skateboarding
    4. Art shows are gay
Anyway, pick one of those and pretend i was serious. thanks

  8. Greg, I don’t think Jim is asking you to hate on the art show at all. He is making the point that no one seems to care about an art show that is a benefit for Stay True, good or bad. You proved him right. You don’t care about it. That’s fine.

Maybe if skateboards cared just a little bit about things that matter in respect to promoting positive change through a skateboard art show and a little less about what happens at the berrics, we might be able to make a huge difference in our city and world in which we live.

Skateboarders should not only look up to professional rippers like Cole, but also those who are giving it their all in dealing with the politics that needs to be dealt with in regards to getting more neighborhood parks like Pops built.

No disrespect to Cole or the Berrics. Cole is an amazing skateboarder and has been for quite some time. He is very gifted on a piece of wood with four wheels.

I know I also didn’t comment on the Art show thread, but honestly, the majority of comments on here have been bumming me out on my own fellow skateboards. Not my friends I know with in the real life, but the regular posters who are so “matter of fact” with their opinions and negativity. There are a few of us out there doing what we can behind the scenes to get things done for all the haters to talk shit on, yet still skate.

Take out your earbuds and be social with your fellow skateboarders when you are out skating. Turn off your false idols that you think you need to get you hyped to skate and feed of the energy from the skateboarders around you. Otherwise, go find your own lonely parking lot or build your on spot to contain the shitty attitudes you bring to skateboarding.

End rant. Go say and do something positive for a change. Those of you that know me and are doing it right know I’m not referring to them.

(I didn’t proof read this, so I apologize for any typos or run on sentences or anything. If you need to pick at that, then you’ve proven my point, if I even had one.)

  9. wow, u took my comment serious… awsome. however, very true about how more people care about the berrics then about their local scene… but this is somewhat a mix of the two… u gotta be siked that one of the best skaters around at the moment isnt some fedora rockin cali brah, hes a local around us.

  10. People on here are such a fucking trip sometimes. If there was a WAREHOUSE website or there was an FDR or POP’s website up, people would be all over it like it’s the best thing since sliced bread. But because it’s a bunch of people from Cali doing something cool, that’s funny, inspiring and enjoyable to watch, it’s bullshit.

Yes, I DO check the Berrics everyday. It’s a good site. I get to see my favorite pros skate EVERYDAY, instead of wait 8 years for a video to come out. It IS inspiring to watch a homie of mine get on there and shine. It is funny to watch Reda or Buttery Donovan make fun of the world within skateboarding.

Just because no one commented on some fucking art show doesn’t mean they don’t care about “their scene.” Jesus, give it a fucking rest already. Wamp wamp..people like the Berrics.

And as far as taking out the earbuds…I did..And now I bring a boombox to the session….but you’d never know it..because your too busy whimpering about no one “supporting their scene” then skating it….

  11. Let me clarify, I am not dissing the Berrics or Chris Cole in any way. I think what both Cole as a skater and the Berrics as a site and spot are doing in skateboarding is great. Unfortunately reading comprehension is lacking in a lot of ways.

Ki, this wasn’t a “support your scene” rant or a “stop dick riding west coast” stuff by any means. The insinuation that I am doing nothing but preaching “support your scene” and not going out skating is ridiculous. I’ve been getting shit from a lot of folks lately asking me where I am and when am I going skating and what not. The fact is, I don’t need to skate with anyone to get psyched on skating. Skating itself gets me psyched, and I have been solo sessioning quite a bit. I don’t really call up people to go skate because meeting up and all that junk doesn’t fit my schedule.

Also, isn’t this site somewhat of a hub for things local like FDR, Pops, and the Warehouse? It is no where near the production value or consistency as the Berrics, but I guarantee you I have way less of a budget to produce content. The Berrics is rad and I am NOT hating on it. It is totally rad to see someone like Cole destroying it out there and representing for all the homies back on the east coast.

Greg, I rock Fedoras, does that make me somehow less of a real skater? Does that make me a kook or something?

I chimed it because I felt you misunderstood what the point Jim was trying to make was. He was referring to comments like this as well as the fact that no one seems to care about something local and positive. I agree with him that the skate deck art show is a little played out, as do a LOT of artists. Your art isn’t legitimized by it’s canvas, but when good art is made on skateboards for a great cause, it makes it all worthwhile. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be psyched on Cole destroying the Berrics. This is now off topic and I completely apologize to Chris Cole and The Berrics. I mean no disrespect towards them at all.

I’ve been refraining from commenting for a long time on here, if you haven’t noticed, because most of the annoying, whiney, crybaby, hating comments come from anon email addresses. Hiding behind a keyboard and posting anonymously to a website is pathetic. I try and make a habit of standing up for what I say, on the internet and in real life. Those that know me well know I stand by this.

Everyone needs to get over themselves. Unfortunately people read what they want to read and conjugate it to suit the point they’d like to make. That point is usually very high and mighty, matter of fact, and self serving.

Chris Cole week on the Berrics is fucking Awesome. He is slaying the shit out of everything in his path. Big ups to Chris for living it, instead of commenting on the internet.

  12. word up n shizz, old greg gots his dilleo up in a lizzard naa mean. Sha boi Coleslaw always be killin it!

  13. fedoras=flair. thats all i gotta say. But wear what ya want. Who cares what I have to say right? I’m just some guy on a computer…
